Geranium

Reopened in new surroundings by chef Rasmus Kofoed who won the 2011 Bocuse d'Or, and is one of the best chefs in the world. The restaurant got three Michelin stars in 2016. The restaurant is along with Noma at the forefront of the revolution in Nordic cuisine that is current waging on. Danish newspapers and guides all agree; if you want to sample local gourmet, this is a very good place to be seated.

Kiin Kiin

Expensive, but takes Thai cuisine to a wholly different level, for which the restaurant was awarded its first Michellin Star in 2007. Book ahead on weekends as the restaurant fills up quickly.

Morgenstedet

Morgenstedet is a vegetarian eatery, and all the food here is made from organic and fresh vegetables from a Danish farm. Nice outdoor seating along benches in the garden, and nice rustic interiors inside. The service is can be really laid back, and the place is mostly self-service, but the open kitchen and talkative chefs make up for it.

Kong Hans Kælder

Michelin starred French restaurant, open since 1976 and located in the oldest building in Copenhagen. The setting is amazing, with Gothic arches and a medieval atmosphere.

Cafe Dyrehaven

This café has gotten some rave reviews, after converting a very traditional working class watering hole into a café. But respectful yet thorough renovation, has ensured this place has a rather unique atmosphere. Food is excellent, but the coffee and tea servings are not as good.

Is a good, low key, Italian trattoria style restaurant. The menu varies greatly but if you can get hold of the Risotto, it is a treat. Otherwise go for one of the excellent pasta dishes. The Wine is very reasonably priced (for Copenhagen), and the staff is informal, but still attentive.

Started by chef from one of Copenhagen's fanciest restaurants, this place goes in the opposite direction and offers an informal, cheaper and more laid back alternative, without sacrificing much in the terms of quality. Only offers one set menu every day, which in Catholic tradition on Fridays consists of seafood.

A good place to buy breakfast or lunch as it rather unusually opens at 08:00, and you can either opt for eating at the long tables, or ask to take away - the freshly baked bread is yummy. In the evening it turns into a rather nice wine bar, with a good an extensive menu.

Guests sit close at the long table in the small greenhouse on rooftop farm, so you will get to know some of the locals. The food is based on Østergros own organic production and matched with natural wines. This is the restaurant in Hellerup Sailing Club. But non-members are welcome (although some tables are reservered for club member). You get excellent food at reasonable prices and in the summer you can enjoy the spectacular view over Øresund from the rooftop terrace.
